Continuing Education and Competency program

The College of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of Prince Edward Island (CASLPPEI) requires all registrants to fulfill their Continuing Education and Competency (CEC) program requirements to qualify for continued registration.

All registrants are required to accumulate a minimum of 36 program credits over a three-year period. Activities must relate to the practice of audiology or speech-language pathology. Credits may be earned through courses, self-directed study, research, mentoring, and more. Some limits apply to specific types of activities.

Audit cycles and eligibility

The CEC program cycles are aligned with the college's registration period (November 1 - October 31).

The first reporting cycle begins at the moment an individual registers with CASLPPEI, regardless of the registration date. Eligible CEC activities completed on or after the registration date may be counted toward the requirement.

Registrants must keep supporting documentation for three years. Audits are conducted annually, and eligible registrants will be randomly selected to participate.

All registrants must continue completing their CEC requirements, whether they are selected for audit or not.

After completing a three-year CEC program cycle, a registrant begins a new three-year cycle. A registrant who is audited becomes eligible for random selection again after completing the next cycle.

Being selected for an audit does not change a registrant's ongoing responsibility to complete and document their CEC activities.
